Sunflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus). The oil consists mainly of linoleic acid, which is a polyunsaturated fat, and oleic acid, which is a monounsaturated fat. Selective breeding and production processes result in oils with different proportions of fatty acids. The pressed oil has a neutral taste. The oil is rich in vitamin E.
Sunflower oil is mostly used as cooking oil. It is good for for salads or cold snacks.
