The human body is unable to produce iron on its own, which is why it is important to get enough from food. The gluconate used in Eisenblut’s juice is obtained from glucose (grape sugar) by oxidation. The gluconate is then combined with divalent iron obtained from inorganic iron salts. Iron is particularly well absorbed by the body in the form of ferrous gluconate, which is used in this juice. Iron(II) gluconate does not contain any ingredients of animal origin, so Eisenblut is also suitable for vegetarians.
