Can glassware be used in the microwave?
Yes, the glass bowl, silicone lid and fibreglass base are safe to use in the microwave. DO NOT use stainless steel lids in the microwave! The silicone lid has a small tab that can be placed on the edge of the glass dish to prevent a vacuum from forming when the pot is heated. The food should be heated for no more than 2 minutes, stirring and reheating if necessary.
Can a glass bowl be used in the oven?
The stainless steel lid and the fibreglass base are NOT ovenproof, but the glass pot (separate) and the silicone lid are ovenproof. DO NOT allow the glassware to come into direct contact with flame or to be used with a barbecue. Glass can shatter in the event of a sudden temperature change, so make sure it is at room temperature before placing it in the oven (i.e. do not place it directly from the fridge or freezer into a heated oven!). DO NOT immerse glassware in cold water or place it directly on a cold surface after removing from the oven.
Can glassware be washed in a dishwasher?
Yes, all parts of this product are dishwasher safe. However, we recommend using the top shelf where possible. Care should be taken to wait for the glass dish to cool down after the cycle and NEVER place it directly on a cold surface as it may break due to thermal shock.
Can glassware be put in the freezer?
All glassware can be placed in the freezer, but it is important to make sure that the food is completely defrosted before reheating and NEVER use the microwave or oven to defrost food. Also, the liquid expands by about 9% when it freezes, so care should be taken to ensure that there is enough air space before placing in the freezer.
Is the glass container BPA and BPS free?
Yes, it is.
Is there anything I can do to make it easier to open the stainless steel lid?
Sometimes, after repeated use, the lid can become stiff and difficult to open. Coat the inside of the dish with vegetable oil and wipe dry to make it easier to open the lid. DO NOT put a stainless steel lid on a fibreglass tray before making sure that the glass dish and silicone lid are inside.
